Dr. Chris Damaso - Staff Scientist

Chris Damaso received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Silliman University in the Philippines. After teaching general and organic laboratory chemisty at Central Mindanao University for two years he decided to pursue graduate studies in the US. Chris completed his Ph.D. in Bioanalytical Chemisty at the University of Kansas under the supervision of Mario Rivera. His graduate research on the preparation and spectroscopic characterization of protein-verdoheme complex models (NMR, anaerobic UV-Vis system) made a significant contribution to the understanding of the mechanism of heme degradation. Chris worked with Jumi Shin during his postdoctoral training at the University of Toronto at Mississauga (2006) where his research involved designing artificial transcription factors and screening them to identify proteins that bind to a specific DNA target. Chris joined Larial Proteomics Inc. in 2008 where he is a staff scientist responsible for the development and validation of synthetic peptide antibodies to biomarkers of interest. Chris also provides bioanalytical support for various client-related projects including protein structure/function studies and proteome analysis.
