Protein expression in a variety of eukaryotic and prokaryotic systems is available and molecular subcloning of constructs into appropriate expression plasmids can also be performed. Since Larial's expertise is primarily in the bioanalytical area, it is able to maintain a high degree of quality surveillance over product quality. Through its separation sciences capabilities Larial can also provide purification services that utilize lower cost feedstock. For example, peptide synthesis costs can be dramatically reduced if lower purity grade materials are obtained (crude synthesis) and HPLC purification is subsequently undertaken by Larial. This approach has the advantage, in the case of peptides destined to become immunogens for antibody development, that truncated peptides can be recovered from crude synthesis reaction mixtures then utilized in biosensor studies and the production of affinity columns. Similarly, Larial offers bench scale purification services (FPLC, HPLC) for protein constructs that either contain affinity tags (eg., His6), a fusion protein sequence (eg., GST) or expressed as native sequences.
